That's why I suggested AVATV have a second event ready. Advertising it would have made people think about returning this season.
As for next year, still need to get through a legislative session and determine whether Jericho will be on the privatization list.

As for next year, still need to get through a legislative session and determine whether Jericho will be on the privatization list. I THINK what Rapid is referring to is the Placing of State Parks and Lands under the CARE of Private Organizations and Non Profits to cut the costs of Maintaining them.....The List has been kicked arround in the Last couple of sessions in Concord... Although Jericho like other State trail lands and easements come under the control of the BOT under Park&Lands and DRED. SINCE THEY ARE ALREADY maintained and Managed with Dedicated funding thanks to yours and mine registration Dollars and the many hours of labour freely given by Club VOLUNTEERS! This would put Jericho AT THE BOTTOM OF THAT LIST..... BUT.....a private company has been requisted to run and Build the Camp Ground......and if History is a guide, the Lessons learned at Mt. Sunapee Ski Area and others would point to a Public Private Partnership to make Jericho a viable IF NOT profitable venture. I would make exhibit A . Hatfield-McCoy ATV Park in West Virginia.....the prime example of a Public/Private Park that is not only Profitable for that region but Growing Bigger by the Minute. Atleast thats my take on it......

Plans are already underway for next year's festival. Organizers hope to announce the date of next year's festival sometime in August, so check back as we'll post news and updates.I HOPE THEY THINK LONG AND HARD ON THE DATE.... Not moving it would be a mistake....You also don't want to upset NorthCountry by having it to close to their's and then there's Race Weekend(s).... and Bike Week......and......see it needs some serious thought...Lets not leave it to a tourism promotion group this time.......OK! There has been rumours of bringing the Pros to Race Here.... then first priorty would be to lock in the date they need to Race here on there schedule....just a thought!

No. Each year Legislative Service Requests are entered, that later become bills with formal language. To create Jericho, several 'promises' were made... but not written into statute (law). As we break the 'promises' made... legislation might tighten.
Privatization is something new this year. The State budget had an extreme shortfall... with the next two year cycle looking much worse. To fix the gap, the Legislature issued a committee to discover $60 million of State property that could be sold/leased. Though I believe the funding mechanism for Jericho would prevent such... I can't be sure. GOP candidate Jack Kimball has suggested privatization of the State-owned ATV trails in the North Country. The only ones that I know of that the State owns... is the rail trail in Bath and Jericho.

So what happens to the AVATV Club's role in Jericho if a private company takes over?

We are working on a date for next year....I have asked ALL the atv/ohrv clubs to give me there dates that they have set aside for their big events. As the article states a new date should be out some time in August... I do understand about the date issue, I would like to see a date that is free from other event in the state. Please send me dates..... thanks

So what happens to the AVATV Club's role in Jericho if a private company takes over? Not completely sure. It would depend on the business model of the private company. I've seen parks whose primary focus is extreme, while others are family-friendly.

Dan, if you pick a date... and falls on a club event date. They can be moved. But there is two things to remember... the Festival needs to be during the time the connector trail is open. And if this CMR thing is a serious goal, it needs to be in-line with their schedule.
Since you know the dates that the connector trail is open... someone might wish to verify when a CMR date is available, and we can go from there.
And does Berlin still hold WinterFest?

Hey Gotmoxie, Any idea where the CMR thing came from? I have not heard of it until now.
Thanks

There is a survey that has appeared on the White Mountain Range Runner website. It asks questions about the ATV Festival. I haven't seen it anywheres else. Is it legit? Where did it come from?
As far as CMR item, let's not put the cart before the horse. Let those who will be involved in the event planning at least get the date on the calender and an event committee formed up first.

If they wish to bring in an outside national... you have to go around their schedule.
