The presentation was given to our Board of Selectmen with a standing room only attendance. One of the Selectmen is concerned about 16 years and under on the main road along with traffic. This is where HB-383 will help. We will not be going to White Birches Camping Area because 2 land owners have refused to give us permission, one being the USFS. Trail will now end at the Town & Country Motor Inn, if we get permission. The rest is still a waiting game.

It just changes the age from 14 to 16 needing adult supervisions over the road.

I'm working on planning a multi-day trip for late July to ride the new trails up to Millsfield/Colebrook/Pittsburg. Coming up from Springfield, Mass area. Assuming the approval for this goes forward, is there anywhere in Gorham that you know of where we could park and leave vehicles and trailers for a few days? Even if approval for ATVs on rts 2 and 16 doesn't happen by then, we could leave the vehicles somewhere and drop the machines off at the rt 2 parking area. Anyone have any suggestions?

If I were you I would contact Randy @ Jericho Motorsports and ask to leave vehicles there..It gives you the option of hitting Jericho Park Trails and then down to Gorham, up the rail bed to Berlin, Success and on to Millsfield etc. Plus there's gas in Berlin on the way!

Concerning the access of Rt. 2 into Gorham, We are waiting for House Bill 383 to pass. Some have said in the local newspapers that it has passed, but I find no facts of this on the NH Gov. web site. Anyone have any actual facts to this passage, please let me know. Once this bill is officially passed, then we (in Gorham) will have a public meeting, get selectmen support, then the state will request the approval from the Dept. of Transportation and Department of Safety, then we'll have to sign it then it will be opened. I don't see this opended until June or so. Henry President Presidential OHRV

Thank you much for the info. We're probably going to head up in late July. I'll contact him when we make a final decision as to the exact time. Now we're trying to figure out where we can stay along the way. Thanks again.

I believe the Bill as amended passed by voice vote and now needs the Gov to sign or veto it. If she signs it into law THEN sixty days till it becomes law. But as soon as she signs it things will go into motion as Henery has said.....

HB 383 – VERSION ADOPTED BY BOTH BODIES
2013-05-22 House House Concurs with Senate Amendment #1042s (Rep Bouchard): Motion Adopted Voice Vote
OK now, how does this become a priority in Gorham? Who is driving the bus on this?
Let me know how/if I can help.
Jeff D, excited Gorham resident...!

The bill doesn't prevent those 16 and younger from being on the highway. It changes the ability of 14 and 15 year olds to be without adult supervision on them.

from my understanding, the bill states that anyone who is not a licensed driver MUST be accompanied by a licensed driver when operating an atv on a public road. but this is progress. and progress is good!
