Howdy everyone! Is there any news on what's happening with the Head Pond trail? It was slated to be opened this year, but I can't seem to get any official word!

The last I heard it will be open this year. They started work on some trial last fall and have all the access taken care of. It should open around the same time as the rest of the trails, on Sunday May 23rd.
Thanks

At this time the trails are not connected, but the local clubs are working to connect them. The clubs have begun the process of working together to see what can be done to connect the trails together. The other clubs are looking to connect the trail system together, we just don't know how far we are going to get...
Will keep you posted.....

Jason,
Head Pond trails are not opened yet. There is some complications with some private property we have to cross to access the trails. They will be open some time this summer.

I don' t understand the significance of this to Head Pond and Jericho. I've stayed at the Cedar Pond Campground but it is still about 12 miles from Head Pond and Jericho. Is it part of a plan to open another corridor of trails? Are you trying to connect campgrounds to the Park which would be a great idea.

Absolutely right. Cedar Pond drive is just a road around the pond. There could be a snowmobile trail somewhere off that road that would lead to Head Pond section that could be possibly used as an ATV trail in the future. I am not a snowmobiler so I don't know the trails. The AVATV Club, for the most part, doesn't decide where trails are going the Bureau of Trails does.
