We are wondering how many people are going to show up to ride through the streets of Berlin, legally. If you do stop and have a warm lunch at the local restaurants.

Final touches on city ATV trail by Erik Eisele, Berlin Reporter - October 28, 2009
BERLIN — The diamonds are going down and the trail signs are going up; the ATV trail through the city will soon be open.
The trail will open November 7, and if weather permits it will remain open until December 15, at which time it will revert to the snowmobile trail.
Organizers reached an agreement with the Salvation Army to allow riders to use their property, they said, which will allow them to go from Valley Creek Eatery to Cole Street without using city streets. The trail with go through the Dead River park to reach Cole Street without using city streets, removing the last significant hurdle to opening the trail. A written agreement has yet to be drafted and signed, members of the Androscoggin Valley ATV Club said, but they will have it done before the scheduled opening date.
Organizers are planning an opening celebration on November 7, with representatives from the city, AVATV club, New Hampshire Trails Bureau and Department of Resources and Economic Development. They also plan to invite the governor, state representatives, senators, members of the executive council and statewide media, as well as all the property owners who have permitted the trail to cross their property.
The event will start at Jericho Mountain State Park at 10 a.m. A parade of ATVs will ride from the park to the Tondreau parking area for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and brief remarks by Mayor David Bertrand. They will then continue to Success Pond Road, where they will turn around and head back to Jericho Mountain State Park.

No has really discussed it. There is a final meeting at city hall to finalize the plans for Saturday. I will make sure that this is talked about.

I'm in hopes that because it so late in the atv season, that if it does rain, they will just open the trail, maybe the guest speaker will say something at city hall and call it good.
I myself, will pray for no rain. ;D

:)Looks like a GO for the Weather Forcast! Bring your Longjohns it will be a cold ride! HERE ARE THE RULES-Berlin Connector Trail- Rules for using new ATV connector trail issuedBY BARBARA TETREAULT THE BERLIN DAILY SUN- November 3, 2009 BERLIN — After more than two years of work, the ATV connector trail through the city will open this Saturday, Nov. 7. The 4-mile trail allows ATV operators to travel between Jericho Mountain State Park and the Success ATV trail system on their off highway recreational vehicles. Because much of the connector trail uses city streets, city council approval was required to allow ATVs on public roadways. The trail will be closed during winter months when ATVs will use the snowmobile trail through the city. Organizers caution that use of the trail is a privilege and its future depends on riders following trail and safety rules and regulations. “I believe this can be done in a safe fashion,” Berlin Police Chief Peter Morency said at last week’s public informational meeting on the trail. A committee made up of city officials and members of the Androscoggin Valley ATV Club has overseen the development of the trail. City officials hope the trail will help Berlin position itself as a motorized recreational destination. The ATV club has put up green directional signs marking the route on utility poles and street signs and painted green diamonds on the route itself. Morency said the painted green diamonds have turned out to be too small. He said the signs will be repainted larger for next spring. The chief noted the trail will be open just a few weeks this fall before the route switches over to the snowmobile trail. He said organizers plan to use this fall period to identify issues that need to be addressed. The committee will then work through the winter to iron out issues and get the trail ready for the spring. One of the main focuses of the meeting was to explain the rules and operating procedures for the connector trail in advance of Saturday’s opening. Committee members stressed it is important ATV riders follow the rules. ATV Club President Dan Malone said his organization has a volunteer trail patrol that will monitor the trail. He said the patrol does not have law enforcement authority but can report violators to police. Trail Rules are as follows: * When on the trail, ATV operators must abide by all state and city motor vehicle regulations. Under aged certified ATV operators may use the trail if, and only if, accompanied by a licensed adult. * When operating on a city street, ATV operators must travel single+ file on the extreme right portion of the pavement except when preparing to make a left turn. Committee members said they do not want ATVs traveling on shoulders because that would result in the ATVs moving in and out of the traffic. depending on whether the road was wide enough to accommodate a shoulder. Motor vehicles that cross the yellow line when going around an ATV can be cited for a yellow line violation. * The speed limit for ATV operators on the trail is 25 mph. * ATV operators must yield to pedestrians at all times and must, when on the trail on city streets, yield to vehicular traffic. * ATVs must have working head and tail lights. * ATVs shall not leave designated trail within the city except at the intersections of East Mason and Hutchins Street, Cole and York Street, and Cole Street and Dead River, Green and Pleasant Streets to fuel at nearby service stations. * ATVs must come to a complete stop at ATV stop signs, on the right, off the pavement, before proceedings. * The trail may not be used when there is snow on the street pavement. If in doubt about whether the trail is open, call Berlin police department at 752-3131.

I attended the official opening of the Jericho/Success connector trail. What a nice day for a ride and what a great turn-out. Everyone involved needs to be congratulated on a great job. Both the Jericho Park parking lot and the Jericho Motorsports parking lot were full. On my way back, I went over to Valley Creek Eatery and there was at least 15-20 bikes there and some were just leaving. Same thing with Irving gas. So Berlin businesses are already feeling the benefits of this connector trail. Again, gooj job to everyone involved.

Great to hear that there were that many folks! I hope Governor Lynch was impressed. I'm a southern NH rider and wish it wasn't 3.5 hours to get up there to ride as the trails are great and I think the Success trail connector is such a great thing for the city of Berlin!
