Anyone have an idea what Rep. Theberge is up to?
He's entered bill requests for :
2013-H-0114-R title: relative to operation of OHRVs by youth on certain public ways. Sponsors: (Prime)Robert Theberge
2013-H-0284-R title: relative to the width of OHRVs on state-owned trails. Sponsors: (Prime)Robert Theberge
2013-H-0285-R title: raising the age requirement for operating an OHRV. Sponsors: (Prime)Robert Theberge

Yes, I do. 0114 is probably because parents/guardians are buying atv/dirt bikes and telling the youth 8-16 to go and have fun and they end up on public roads and have no idea what they are doing. It's called "motorized Babysitting".
0284 is to allow wider utv's to use trails where now only 50" width are legally allowed.
0285, I think, is to only allow those youths with either a safety education class certificate or a valid drivers license to operate an OHRV. Some feel that 12 is not old enough.
Hope this helps.

Currently law requires youth under the age of 14 to have adult supervision.
And banning anyone under the age of 12 from operating an ATV/dirtbike is liable to see a loss of registration and tourism dollars for the north country.
