is there any/enough interest in bringing some type of woods format racing to nh on the national stage? Would the benefits be enough to warrent that type of event? I know that there are a lot of people looking for a hare scramble type of event

Most certainly. Some of the most noted events in NH are based on a national stage racing event.
I think the bigger problem is maintaining a pool of more localized talent in these days when travel costs more and budgets are limited.
Not to mention a strong PR program promoting that racing stays on the official courses and not on the trails... else you'd start fighting an uphill PR battle.

the reason I ask is that there could be a possibility of an area hosting a GNCC race if there is a large enough area that could take on such a large task.

GNCC is about a 12 mile course on average? And the size of the venue would need to be?
I remember that NH hosted a 12HRS OF AMERICA race at Mt Madness.

I participated in that race back in 06. It was awesome. I was hoping that something like this would return to nh. so much fun and could be good for the growth of the sport with local impact iplilcations especially with the sxs segment on the rise.

It doesn't draw as big a crowd as the short courses; but as part of a bigger venue might be something someone includes.
Bike Week started with the AMA races at Gunstock, later moved to Briar's (NHMS). But with the loss of the AMA races and now the loss of the AMA Hillclimbs... its slowly taking its toll on the revenue stream.

If someone is serious about a GNCC race, they should call Sue, the events manager at Gunstock. 603-737-4311. With 22 acres and 32 miles of XC trails it could be perfect during bike week.

I sent a reply to the fellow I have been talking to over at GNCC racing. I am keeping my fingers crossed that something will be put into place for possibly the 2014 season at the earliest.
