Haven't been up for two years and what a difference. All junctions marked clearly and a bunch of new trails. Arrived Saturday morning around 8:30 the wind was howling and it was cold. hit the new Head pond trails first. very nice. Then crossed over to Jericho. We thought the place would be loaded as the lot was full. We only ran into two groups of people on the trails! Any others we saw were taking a break at a junction. Never would have guessed that is all we would have run into on the trails.
First day we covered about 75% of the trails.
On Sunday we woke to less wind but 24 degree temps. By the time we hit the trails it had dropped to 22. decided to stay on the flat trails until it warmed up. glad we did. First run down the pipe line I stopped at Erik's way's to wait for the rest. Two moose just over the wall staring at me. I shut down and wave the rest up. The moose see us and decide they are leaving up the ridge. We look up the posted road and see another! I was snapping pictures lie crazy as they headed over the ridge. Then one of our group says look behind us! We turn to see two more crossing the path about 200 yds back from where we just came! I ran Erik's to see if it took us to where we might get another look but it didn't.
Last trip we saw a rabbit. that was it, this trip 5 moose! Even though it was cold it was worth it to see the moose. Rode our favorite trails and hit a few we missed on Sunday before heading out around noon. Sunday was much less people parked in the lot.
Great trip. I should have pics up tonight then I'll post the link.
Favorite trails are Holt's revenge, magella's run , beaver pond trail, panorama hill, vista twista.
A big thanks to anyone that works on the trails. You guys have a great system up there.
