We went for a ride up at the park again and tried out the new trail called Rene's Maze. It was a nasty, twisty, stump and rock strewn, trail that some sadistic sort devised. We took my Sportsman X2, a friend's Sportsman, and my son's Renegade through it without anything more than a little plastic rash. Tough trail. You get set up for the corner you're in and barely out of it you have to set up the next one. Had to back up a few times with my 2-up machine. Lot's of off camber and a few steeps. Lots of "put your tires on the high obstacles to get over the other obstacle" terrain. But now we can say, "Been there, done that." www.youtube.com/watch?v=EybvyuLHKO8 and www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrzYZC2QOiM

I agree, you have to be on your toes for sure. I rode it with my buddies in July with temps in the 90s. We also saw a moose on the trail, and we couldn't go fast enough to outrun the horse flies.

Moosehenden, I was checking out your other videos. I can't place Cathole rd. Is it in the trails behind Burger King in Claremont, or am I not even close?

Cathole Rd. is part of a big loop behind Burger King in Claremont. Unfortunetly, a landowner closed the trail that goes from behind BK to the Cathole Rd. area. Here's a link to directions to get up there. www.sullivancountyatv.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=42:how-to-get-to-cat-hole-parking&catid=20:information&Itemid=19 Where it says: "Bear to your left, up the hill on Cat Hole Road. Drive to the end of the paved road and you'll see a dirt road going off to your right", you kind of want to take the middle road. The intersection is a little confusing. First you see a road angling off to the right, then you come to a downhill left and an uphill right. Take the uphill right. The road is a little washed here and there. I wouldn't go up it with a car. From where you park, you keep going on the road you parked on, and bear right up a hill to get to the Cathole Rd. area. First road sized right will be Cathole Rd.

I believe we're having a ride with NHATV on Saturday, the 25th. It's listed on the events page of SCATV's website.

I am actually doing the poker run that day up in Bath with the Ammonoosuc Valley ATV Club. I just heard from Bill Cote that they are going up to Bath instead of to Cathole Road. Maybe I'll get up there. Not sure. Not super fond of railtrails. They're nice in the winter when not much else is open though.
